FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Challenge Unlimited Highlights the Value of Workers with Disabilities this October
Alton, Ilinois, (Oct. 1, 2024) – Challenge Unlimited, an AbilityOne® authorized provider and member of the SourceAmerica® network, is highlighting the critical issue of employment inclusion and the contributions of workers with disabilities as the nation prepares to observe National Disability Employment Awareness Month in October 2024. This initiative is especially poignant, following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recent annual Disability and Health Data System (DHDS) survey, which revealed that over 70 million U.S. adults reported having a disability, emphasizing a vast and largely untapped talent pool.
In line with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy, Challenge Unlimited will dedicate October to exploring the theme “Access to Good Jobs for All.” The organization stresses the urgent need to expand employment opportunities for this underrepresented group, particularly in the St. Louis area and throughout the Midwest.
“At Challenge Unlimited we’re dedicated to fostering an inclusive workforce and helping workers with disabilities excel in their careers,” said Marketing Manager, Stephanie Schrage. “Employees with disabilities contribute immense value to both our economy and workforce.”
The AbilityOne Program stands as a leading employment source for individuals who are blind or have significant disabilities. Through SourceAmerica, which has facilitated meaningful job connections via government and private sector contracts for nearly 50 years, Challenge Unlimited has played a crucial role in this initiative. The SourceAmerica network currently supports approximately 36,000 AbilityOne employees.
