CU Celebrates the 80th Anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)
October 2025 marked the 80th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a nationwide celebration of the contributions individuals with disabilities make to America’s workforce. What began in 1945 as a weeklong observance for those with physical disabilities has grown to honor all disabilities, including mental health and nonvisible conditions.
At Challenge Unlimited, our mission is to support individuals with disabilities in the workforce every day. Our dedicated Skills Trainers and Job Coaches help individuals realize their potential and connect them with employers who offer meaningful opportunities. This year, we’re also celebrating the businesses and organizations that make these opportunities possible. Thank you to our amazing partners, including:
- Casey’s – Godfrey, IL
- Sam’s Club – Glen Carbon
- Schnucks – O’Fallon, IL
- Theodora Farms – Godfrey, IL
- Culver’s – Collinsville, IL
We also hosted an NDEAM Celebration at the Challenge Unlimited Admin Building. The event featured inspiring words CU’s leadership, staff, and some of the incredible individuals we serve. The city of Alton’s Alderwoman and Mayor Pro Tem, Stephanie Elliott, was also in attendance, delivering Mayor David Goins’ official 2025 NDEAM Proclamation.
While National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is officially celebrated in October, Challenge Unlimited is dedicated to promoting disability employment awareness throughout the entire year.
